Magazine

contratiempo magazine, founded in 2003, is the premier Spanish-language cultural and literary monthly publication in the Midwest and one of the finest in the country. Its content reflects Latin American and immigrant art and thought in the USA. The publication is distributed throughout the Chicago metropolitan area in the Chicago Public Libraries, city colleges and university centers, Latin American consulates, art and community organizations, small businesses, stores, bookstores and cafes.

In its monthly Dossier, the magazine highlights a central topic from different perspectives, Latinidad shows research study results from Notre Dame University's Institute for Latino Studies; in Deshoras, poetry and short story are presented; in Tiempo Extra, readers find reviews of books, magazine, dance, opera and music, plus interviews and profiles; in Mirada Complice, the work of one visual artist or exhibition is featured, and in Tiempo de Sobra, short essays are published.
